WinClip Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 2026
Summary
WinClip does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. Everything stays on your device.
Data Collection
WinClip does not collect any data. Specifically:
- No analytics or telemetry of any kind
- No network connections are made (except for optional update checks to GitHub)
- No clipboard contents are transmitted off your device
- No personal information is gathered, stored, or shared
- No cookies or tracking mechanisms are used
Clipboard Data
WinClip monitors clipboard activity locally to provide its core functionality (copy/paste gestures and text actions). All clipboard data is processed entirely on your device and is never sent anywhere. Clipboard history is stored only in local memory and is cleared when the application closes.
Settings
User preferences (theme, sound, excluded processes) are stored locally in a JSON file at %APPDATA%\WinClip\settings.json. This file never leaves your device.
Update Checks
WinClip may optionally check for updates by querying the GitHub Releases API. This is a read-only request and transmits no personal data. You can disable this in the system tray settings.
Third-Party Services
WinClip does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data collection services.
Children's Privacy
WinClip does not collect any data from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL. Since WinClip collects no data, meaningful changes are unlikely.
